Build The Earth (BTE) adalah proyek yang didedikasikan untuk membuat model Bumi skala 1:1 dalam video game sandbox Minecraft.

Riwayat

Build The Earth dibuat oleh YouTuber PippenFTS pada Maret 2020 sebagai upaya kolaboratif untuk membuat ulang Bumi dalam video game Minecraft.[1] Dalam video YouTube, PippenFTS meminta calon peserta untuk membuat ulang struktur buatan manusia di atas model dasar medan Bumi.[2][3] Server Discord yang dibuat untuk membantu mengoordinasikan proyek[4] menarik lebih dari seratus ribu pengguna pada April 2020.[5]

Pengembang Minecraft Mojang Studios, menampilkan proyek tersebut di situs web mereka pada Hari Bumi 2020.[6] Pada Juli 2020, YouTuber MrBeast merilis video di mana ia dan 50 orang lainnya membangun kampung halamannya di Raleigh, Carolina Utara di dalam proyek tersebut.[7]

Perangkat lunak

Proyek Build The Earth terutama bergantung pada dua modifikasi Minecraft untuk berfungsi: Cubic Chunks dan Terra 1-1. Cubic Chunks menghilangkan batasan Minecraft pada

struktur bangunan di luar ketinggian 265 meter. Terra 1-to-1 menggunakan informasi dari layanan data geografis, seperti Google Earth, untuk menghasilkan medan secara otomatis guna memudahkan proses pembangunan.[4][8] PippenFTS menyatakan bahwa "dengan mod Cubic Chunks yang melanggar batasan vertikal Minecraft, sekarang kita dapat merasakan Bumi di Minecraft, apa adanya, tanpa penurunan skala apa pun."[4]
