Basilisa adalah munisipalitas yang terletak di provinsi Kepulauan Dinagat, Filipina.

Wilayah ini memiliki jumlah penduduk sebesar 33.880 jiwa.

Sejarah

Basilisa pada awalnya bernama Rizal, yang resmi dibentuk sebagai munisipalitas di provinsi Surigao Utara pada 17 Juni 1967 melalui Republic Act No. 4986. Munisipalitas ini merupakan hasil pemekaran dari Dinagat. Rizal kemudian resmi berganti nama menjadi Basilisa pada 21 Juni 1969 melalui Republic Act No. 5550, untuk menghormati mantan wali kota Basilisa Meso.

Pada 2 Desember 2006, Basilisa menjadi bagian dari Kepulauan Dinagat, yang resmi dibentuk sebagai provinsi terpisah dari Surigao Utara melalui hasil plebisit.
