Asgard

Asgard[1] (Bahasa Norse Kuno: Ásgarðr [ˈɑːsˌɡɑrðz̠]; "benteng Æsir") adalah lokasi yang dikisahkan sebagai kediaman para dewa dalam mitologi Nordik. Tempat ini banyak disebutkan dalam berbagai saga Nordik Kuno dan teks-teks mitologis.[2] Beberapa peneliti mengidentifikasi Asgard sebagai salah satu dari Sembilan Dunia yang mengelilingi pohon Yggdrasil.[3] Mitologi Nordik menggambarkan Asgard sebagai rumah berbenteng bagi ras dewa Aesir, yang terletak di langit.[4] Asgard terdiri dari alam yang lebih kecil yang jarang disebutkan secara tersendiri dalam puisi dan prosa mitologis.[5] Eskatologi Nordik kuno meramalkan kehancuran total Asgard selama Ragnarök, dan akan pulih setelah pembaruan dunia.[6]
