Asellota adalah upaordo krustasea isopoda ditemukan di lingkungan laut dan air tawar.[2] Sekitar seperempat dari semua isopoda laut termasuk dalam upaordo ini.[3] Anggota upaordo ini dapat dibedakan dari isopoda lain oleh aparatus kopulasi kompleks mereka. Karakteristik lain termasuk peduncle antenal bersendi-enam, uropod styliform (karakter yang juga dimiliki kelompok isopoda lain), penyatuan dari pleonite 5, 4 dan kadang-kadang 3 ke pleotelson, dan ketiadaan pleopod pertama pada betina.[3][4]
