Adriel

Adriel (Ibrani: עדריאל) adalah seorang bangsawan di kerajaan Israel kuno. Namanya mungkin memiliki arti "Penolong Allah" dan "Penyelamat Manusia".[1][2] Adriel adalah putra dari Barzillai orang Meholatit. Menurut 1 Samuel 18:19, Saulus menikahkan putrinya Merab dengan Adriel.

Namun, 2 Samuel 21:8, dalam Teks Masoretik, menyatakan bahwa Mikhal, putri lain dari Saul "membesarkan" lima putra dari Adriel. Ini tampaknya bertentangan dengan 2 Samuel 6:23, yang menyatakan bahwa Mikhal mandul, dan 2 Samuel 3, yang menyatakan bahwa Mikhal menikahi Daud, bukan Adriel.

Klaim bahwa Mikhal "membesarkan" lima putranya memiliki arti bahwa ia memperlakukan mereka seperti anaknya sendiri.[3]
