  • Populasi Amerika Serikat mencapai 400 juta jiwa.
  • Sebuah pesan radio antar bintang yang diluncurkan pada tanggal 1 Juli 1999, telah sampai di sistem bintang Gliese 777. Pesan ini diberi nama Cosmic Call 1.
  • Sebuah pameran nasional akan digelar tahun ini. Pameran ini dilaksanakan setiap seratus tahun sekali.
